stolen a large section of the walls stone toppings. The toppings are irreplaceable and we currently arranging for the damaged walls to be rebuilt or replaced. If are in the vicinity and
see anyone acting strangely please report it to the police.
Major work is being carried out at the rear of the graveyard. The work has included the removal of
all the self seeded saplings, thorn bushes etc.
A Health & Safety inspection
has begun of all graves. So far sections G & H have been inspected. The inspection covers headstones and kerbs Any headstones found to be dangerous are being immediately laid down and a notice of required repairs attached to it. Any headstone that is loose but not deemed dangerous will be left standing but served with a notice of required repairs. Any kerbs found broken or loose will also be served with a notice of required repairs.
The owners of the graves, which is normally the family, will then have 6 months to complete any required
repairs. After this date the church will take action to remove any kerbs not repaired and lay flat in the grave space any loose headstones.
It is not our intention to cause distress to anyone but by law we have to carry out this inspection.
