HIGH HOYLAND GRAVEYARD NOTES & MAP FOR SECTIONS A,B,C&D
The following are notes made when the graveyard was being mapped out. Each of the following could
contain important information to anyone visiting the graveyard.
Since Hilda Dearnley completed the graveyard inscription map in the early 1970's a lot of the gravestones
in sections A, B, C & D have been moved to other sections and laid flat on the ground. Why this was done and by whom has yet to be determined. As these area's contain the oldest gravestones going back
as far as 1634 this is a shame.
As it was now impossible to create accurate maps of the individual area's I have grouped them all together
and called them 'Church Area'. The map below shows the current position of the gravestones. The records page will give details of the original position and the current postition of the gravestones. However
for most of the original positions only the row is known. Fortuneately some gravestones have not been moved and the records page will reflect this.
