This project was started in January 2001 and so far (10/04/08) contains over 4365 burial records but is expected to
far exceed the 4500 mark maybe even reach 5500. Sadly for the relatives of many of those buried it will not be possible to locate the exact grave. However with the help of relatives and friends I am sure
that we can ascertain the final resting place of many more than the records detail.
If you have details of family connections between those buried at High Hoyland then email me the details and I will add them
to the records so that family connections can be seen. Please include death details (on web site) so that I know which one we are talking about. For example John Smith (died 1888) Father of Peter Smith (died
1902)
The history pages have now been added. (16/05/07) which contain some pictures. If you have old pictures of High Hoyland
(particularly the church & graveyard) and would like them displayed on the website then please email them to me. The history pages also contain a number of articles by the late Dr John Addy who was an
historian based at York University. Again if you have any interesting history of HH then please forward them to me.
The graveyard is currently undergoing a Health & Safety inspection (2008). Of the graves inspected so far a great number
of them require attention. They either need headstones, kerbs or both securing. It is the responsibility of the owner to carry out any necessary work. See the maintenance page for details.
